Regional Police Chief of West Kalimantan Brigadier General Pol Pipit Rismanto

Aim for Drugs, Borderlands and Illegal Mining

PANGKALPINANG – Law enforcement against illegal activities and border control is one of the priority programs in the 100 working days of the West Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Brigadier General Pol Pipit Rismanto. He emphasized this after the ceremony of welcoming and handing over the Pataka Budhi Sarana Bhakti at the West Kalimantan Regional Police Headquarters, Saturday (1/4) afternoon.

According to Rismanto, his party will be consistent in law enforcement, especially against illegal activities, such as drugs.

“I said earlier that we must suppress imports, especially illegal imports. This is also dangerous. For this reason, I am sure that the border, not only the National Police, is in charge of the border. We continue to encourage that the border must be monitored together,” said the former Director of Certain Crimes (Dittipidter) Bareskrim Polri.

“For drugs, we will do an evaluation. West Kalimantan borders with Malaysia. Of course drugs enter easily because they don’t only go through official access, they can go through rat routes. But what kind of surveillance it is, it is impossible for us to stare at it one by one along those lines. We have to find a way. Hopefully, in the next 100 days program we can make even better efforts,” he continued.

Apart from drugs and border issues, Rismanto is also concerned about illegal gold mining (PETI/Unlicensed Gold Mining). Regarding this illegal gold mining, Pipit admitted that he had just received a report. Therefore, he will first evaluate and then determine future policies. This is because the problem of illegal gold mining is considered to have many aspects that must be taken into account.

“For illegal gold mining activities, we will find the right solution later. We will evaluate the environmental damage caused, social conditions, and the economy. Of course Polri cannot work alone, because I am sure that something will have an effect, not only on environmental issues, but also on social and economic issues. Of course, we have to find a way out, find a way so that we can solve these PETI problems,” he explained.

“We can do all law enforcement, but what kind of law enforcement? We will prioritize the enforcement of ultimum remedium with concepts that can be accounted for, cooperated with and supervised together,” he continued. As is known, ultimum remedium is one of the principles contained in Indonesian criminal law which states that criminal law should be used as a last resort in terms of law enforcement.

But what is no less important, said Rismanto, in the 100 working days program, he will implement what has become government policy, in this case the president and the National Police Chief. In addition, his party will also evaluate internally, carry out internal strengthening, and develop human resources.

“Of course, with a leadership style that I think is almost the same as the old regional police chief. Only slight differences. What he has done is good and has inspired me to be close to the outside environment, with officials, governors, forkompimda, etc. Then, we also have to maintain the local wisdom that is here. The point is we all invite you to guard and maintain kamtibmas,” he said.

On that occasion, Rismanto thanked Inspector General of Police Suryambodo Asmoro for carrying out his duties properly. He also asked for support from the media, key officials, and the police chief in carrying out his duties going forward.

Prior to serving as West Kalimantan Regional Police Chief, Brigen Pol Pipit Rismanto held the position of Director for Certain Crimes (Dittipidter) at Bareskrim Polri Headquarters since March 2021. During his tenure as Director of Bareskrim Polri, this one-star general was appointed to lead a special team (timsus) formed by the National Police to investigate cases acute kidney failure in children. He has also been assigned to uncover cases of illegal mining in East Kalimantan.

Recently, he also led an illegal logging operation in West Kalimantan, namely securing illegal wood processing factories or industries in Kubu Raya. His party managed to confiscate thousands of cubic meters of processed wood that would be exported to a number of countries in Europe and South Korea.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Suryanbodo Asmoro said that he had described what had been achieved during his one year and three months in office, both in the field of law enforcement operations, traffic, and maintenance of public order and security.

“I have reported it to the Kapolda together with the handover memory and will be followed up partially. Later, key officials will be summoned from the directorates, departments and bureaus to present the new regional police chief, including the rank and file police. So, the new Kapolda will know whether there are any shortcomings in the PR that have not been resolved,” he concluded. (pontianakpost)
